Description

2'-Azido-2'-deoxyuridine is an antimetabolite that is converted to deoxyuridine triphosphate during DNA synthesis. Laboratory suppression of deoxyuridine is employed to diagnose megaloblastic anemias due to vitamin B12 and folate deficiencies.
