Description

Clozapine N-oxide is a major metabolite of clozapine, along with N-desmethyl clozapine, as identified by reverse-phase HPLC. It has been noted to decrease 5-HT₂ serotonin receptor (SR-2A) density in rat primary cortical cells and human hippocampal SHS5Y5 neuroblastoma cells in vitro.
