Description
Dihydrofolic acid is a derivative of Folic acid with a saturation on the pteridine ring relative to the parent compound. Reduction of Dihydrofolic acid by dihydrofolate reductase produces Tetrahydrofolic acid, an important transformation in the biosynthesis pathway to purines and pyrimidines. Dihydrofolic acid is potentially useful as a reference in studying the inhibition of purine biosynthesis by compounds.
