Description

D-Fructose-13C6 is a 6-carbon polyhydroxyketone monosaccharide that is the most soluble of all the sugars. This carbohydrate has been labeled with the carbon 13 isotope making it useful in analytical studies using Mass Spectroscopy. In addition, studies show that mutarotation can be observed in solution using dielectric spectroscopy and polarimetry. Since D-Fructose is a common metabolite in a multitude of biological reactions the labeled sugar, D-Fructose-13C6 can be used to monitor pathways in organisms such as bacteria and yeast.
