Description

4-Iodo-1H-pyridin-2-one is a halogenated pyridin-2-one compound. The pyridin-2-one structure bears analogy to pyrimidine heterocycles and the pyridin-2-one moiety forms the core of a series of pharmacolocially relevant inhibitors of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. The functionalizable iodide substitution of 4-Iodo-1H-pyridin-2-one makes it potentially relevant to the design and study of nucleoside mimics and unnatural base pairs.
