Description

2-Iodomelatonin is a potent agonist of MEL-1( melatonin receptors) with higher affinity than Melatonin itself (30-fold more potent in CHO cells). 2-Iodomelatonin has been utilized for this strong agonist activity in probing and elucidating the behaviors of the melatonin MEL-1A-R, MEL-1B-R, and MT3 receptors. 2-^[125I]-iodomelatonin useful radiolabel tool for identification, characterize and localize melatonin binding sites.
