The compound displays an EC₅₀= 240 nM in rat smooth muscle. P2Y receptors are G-coupled protein receptors, which functions as a mediator of vasorelaxtion as a result of nitric oxide production. Furthermore, 2-Methylthioadenosine Triphosphate Tetrasodium Salt and extracellular ATP can influence glomerular haemodynamics through the activation of P2 receptors located on its cell surface.
