Description

Probucol is an antioxidant, antiinflammatory and hypocholesterolemic agent. Inhibits atherogenesis in genetically hypercholesterolemic rabbits (Watanabe) and attenuates ischemia/reperfusion-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis. Lowers serum cholesterol by increasing low-density lipoprotein (LDL) catabolism in the final metabolic pathway for cholesterol elimination.
