Description

3,5,4'-Trimethoxystilbene, an antiangiogenic agent and permethylated derivative of Resveratrol, has been shown to inhibit endothelial cell proliferation, and cause microtubule disassembly and tubulin depolymerization. It has been reported that this compound induces apoptosis via modulation of mitochondrial functions regulated by reactive oxygen species. Further studies note that 3,5,4'-Trimethoxystilbene causes reactive oxygen species generation in the early stages of the induced apoptosis, preceding cytochrome-c release, caspase activation, and DNA fragmentation.
